A memorial service for Wilbur Gage will take place on Saturday, January 24, at 3:00 pm, in the sanctuary, followed by a reception. Temple Baptist Church: 1319 NE 7th Ave, Portland. 503-233-5953.

Wilbur Leon Gage “Peanie” passed away in Portland, Oregon on January 6, 2014 at the age of 89. Wilbur was born in Fremont, Nebraska on March 10, 1925 to Wilbur L and Katherine (Johnson) Gage. Wilbur was married to Charlotte May Armstrong on June 18, 1948. He was a graduate of Oregon State University. Wilbur served in the US Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart among other medals and citations. After the war, he worked for PacifiCorp (Pacific Power and Light) for 36 years. Wilbur and Charlotte made their home in Portland. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and reading and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Portland. A devoted father, Wilbur had pet names for all the children in his life.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughters, Julie and Marisue Gage; a grandson, Steve and great grandson, Abram. Private family interment was at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to the 94th Infantry Association, The Humane Society of Oregon or the American Cancer Society.
