Mary Salholm - Communication and Administrative Director

Tell us about your family:

I’m married to Dave (25 years & counting!) and we have two charming daughters. Dave works in the HVAC (furnaces & air conditioning) industry, and he can fix or build anything – you dream it and he can make it happen.

Laura attends college and Linda is in high school. We spend our autumns

with Krayon Kids Musical Theatre Company in Oregon City building sets, helping behind the scenes and

enjoying their fall production. Our favorite vacations have been to theme parks and Sunriver Resort near

Bend with friends.

What’s on your playlist?

I enjoy country and bluegrass music.

Favorite movies/shows?

I really like American history, so when I have control of the remote, I hunt for documentaries on PBS or

C-Span History channels. Or I’ll watch a sappy Hallmark movie. My all-time favorite TV shows are The

Dick Van Dyke Show and I Love Lucy. I’ll watch any Tom Hanks movie.

Where would you recommend eating in Portland?

I wish I could recommend my own dining room, but the food quality there is spotty. You’re better off

trying one of my family’s current favorites: Thai Pod on NE Broadway or Thai Seasons on NE Sandy Blvd.

To really know me you have to…

Be patient because I tend to be pretty private. You could suggest going on a long walk with me,

preferably along an Oregon beach. Or paint a room with me. Or share a campsite with me at the church

campout. To know me is to love me.

What’s your passion for the people you serve?

One of my favorite perks is matching individuals to a task then watching them excel. We have amazing

people at Temple with diverse skills. I’m frequently surprised by what they are able to do.
